OSHMAN FAMILY JCC PRESENTS ACCLAIMED PIANIST FRANK LEVY IN A CLASSICAL CHILDREN'S PROGRAM, 3PM, Schultz Cultural Arts Hall

Oshman Family JCC invites children and families to enjoy “Musical Journeys with Frank Lévy: Children’s Corner and Some of Our Favorite Things.” This musical afternoon welcomes young listeners to an extraordinary fantasia with music inspired by toys, dolls, trains, clocks, and other childhood favorites as Lévy leads an adventure put to music by Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff, Debussy, and Schumann. Pianist Frank Lévy has been hailed by audiences and critics alike as an artist of rare poetic insight and communicative powers. He has enjoyed an international career as a recitalist performing on many of the world’s great stages, including Carnegie Hall in New York City and Queen Elizabeth Hall in London. This event is partly sponsored by JoyTunes, the partner for teaching music. “Musical Journeys with Frank Lévy: Children’s Corner and Some of Our Favorite Things” will be presented Sunday, April 19, 2015 at 3:00 pm at the Oshman Family JCC Schultz Cultural Arts Hall, 3921 Fabian Way, Palo Alto.
Born and raised in Switzerland, Mr. Lévy entered the Geneva Conservatory at age fifteen where he received his bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees, studying with renowned pianists such as Louis Hiltbrand and Maria Tipo. He continued his studies at the Peabody Conservatory and received the prestigious Artist Diploma. Mr. Lévy then went on to work with Emmanuel Ax at The Julliard School. The Yorkshire Post says, “Frank Lévy is one of the Leeds Competition’s real poets. His taste is impeccable but never self-conscious, his technical credentials admirable but never attention-seeking.”
Mr. Lévy specializes in romantic works and is currently recording complete piano works of Schubert and Brahms for the Canadian label, Palexa. His recordings and live performances have been broadcast by WQXR in New York City, the BBC in London, the RSR in Switzerland and the CBC in Canada.
