Coming Up In Palo Alto: 'Health Matters' Community Day Hosted By Stanford Medicine

Registration for the free event -- open to the public -- is underway.

Health Matters, Saturday, May 16th at the Stanford Campus, 291 Campus Dr. from 9am-2pm.

‘Health Matters’ is a community event that explores the latest in advancements in medicine and health at Stanford Medicine. The free, community-wide event features talks and interactive and educational programs about health for the entire family.

The event will include lectures by Stanford Medicine faculty on topics such as: Maintaining Cognitive Health and Preventing Dementia; Heart Disease Prevention; Healthy Aging; Infectious Disease: Risks and Precautions; Understanding Breast Cancer Biology; and Tips for Safe Workouts: Staying Injury Free.

High school students can take part in a “mini medical school”, a unique opportunity to visit campus, attend lectures and learn about medical school from current Stanford students.

Visitors can also enjoy the health pavilion, a collection of exhibits featuring interactive, hands-on attractions and activities for the whole family. Visitors can climb aboard the Stanford Life Flight helicopter, play with cutting-edge, robotic and 3-D technologies, cuddle up with canines from the pet assisted wellness (PAWs) program, get answers to health questions from a variety of Stanford experts and watch cooking demonstrations with Stanford nutritional experts.

This event is free and open to the public.

Complimentary coffee, tea, and water will be provided throughout the day. Delicious lunches will be available for purchase from our Food Truck Roundup from 11:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.
