Coronavirus: Santa Clara County Reports 35 New Cases, 3 Deaths

SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA — The Santa Clara County Public Health Department reported 35 additional cases of the new coronavirus Friday.

The latest report brings the countywide total of COVID-19 cases to 2,018.

The county reported three new coronavirus-related fatalities, bringing its death toll to 98.

There are currently 176 hospitalized COVID-19 patients in the county.

Elsewhere around the Bay Area the Presidio Trust announced the pilot closure in San Francisco this weekend of sections of Park Boulevard, Lincoln Boulevard, Montgomery Street, Moraga Avenue, Presidio Boulevard, Lombard Street and West Pacific Avenue vehicle traffic to allow for more physical distancing for pedestrians.

The pilot closures, which will be in effect on Saturday and Sunday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., will create what the Presidio Trust is calling the Presidio Loop, a 4.5 paved trail in the park.

Drive-thru testing will begin Saturday in Santa Rosa for the most vulnerable groups of people who are at risk of contracting the COVID-19 disease caused by coronavirus.

The testing will be done in the daylight hours at the Sonoma County Public Health Laboratory at 3133 Chanate Road.

The testing is by appointment only. Gov. Gavin Newsom announced a partnership Friday with the Federal Emergency Management Agency and restaurants across the state to provide and deliver healthy meals to seniors during the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.

There have been 39,719 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 1,537 coronavirus-related deaths in California as of Friday night according to John Hopkins University

The United States has confirmed 890,524 COVID-19 cases and 51,017 coronavirus-related fatalities as of Friday night.
