Elderly Man Missing From Palo Alto Located, Police Say
UPDATED: Police say the 79-year-old is in town from China, visiting family, has been located.

PALO ALTO, CA — UPDATED: An elderly man reported missing Thursday from Palo Alto has since been located, police said. Qing Yan, who is in town from China to visit family, was located by a relative.
"He is back with his family now and safe & sound," Palo Alto police said in an update on Twitter. "Thanks for your help in keeping an eye out for him."
ORIGINAL POST: Palo Alto police asked the community for its help Thursday in finding an elderly man reported missing by relatives. Police said in a news release at 11:18 a.m. that Qing Yan is from China and is in Palo Alto visiting family. But he went missing from his family's home, police said.

Yan was last seen at about 6:45 a.m. Thursday walking eastbound on Oregon Avenue, according to police.
Yan, 79, only speaks Mandarin. He was last seen wearing a dark-colored baseball cap — the same one shown in the below photo — a long-sleeved striped shirt very similar to the one shown in the photo, and black pants.

Police ask anyone who see Yan to call 911 and to keep him under observation until officers arrive to help him.
"We have notified surrounding police agencies, and we are actively looking for him right now," police said.
