45th Annual Palo Alto Concours D'Elegance at Stanford

The 45th Annual Palo Alto Concours d'Elegance will be held on Sunday, June 26th at Stanford University’s Sand Hill Road Athletic Field, located at the corner Sand Hill Road and Pasteur Drive.  The inaugural event in 1967 was hosted at Town and Country Village, subsequently relocated to El Camino Park, followed by Palo Alto High School, later moved to various intramural fields at Stanford, and finally settled at its current location, the Sand Hill Road site.

Different from a ‘show and shine’ car show, the Concours d'Elegance is a judged event with entries of various classes evaluated on many criteria, including the quality of the restoration, adherence to the original manufacturer specifications, rarity, and uniqueness of the vehicle.  Qualified judges from the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) evaluate the automobiles with trophies being awarded based on these criteria.

To encourage involvement of local car clubs, there is a Car Corral where club members can gather and enjoy a day in the sun among like-minded people.  And, for someone looking to buy a vintage or unique vehicle, the event includes a ‘Cars for Sale’ lot adjacent to the Concours field.
