Stanford Hospital Fire Knocked Down, Crews Dealing With Hazmat Incident

BREAKING: The fire was contained to a room on the third floor. Fire authorities say they are dealing with a hazmat incident.

PALO ALTO, CA — A fire in a room on the third floor of Stanford Hospital in the Edwards building has been knocked down but crews are still dealing with a hazmat incident, according to Palo Alto firefighters.

A third-alarm and a hazmat response was requested. The sprinkler system was able to contain the fire to the single room on the third floor that contained bio hazardous waste. The fire was in the medical school building and patient care at the hospital has not been impacted, fire officials said.

The area around the fire has been evacuated.
