Former School Board President Dies
John Tuomy served as a Board member for the Palo Alto Unified School District for eight years, from 1995-2003, including two terms as Board president.

John Tuomy, former Palo Alto Unified School District member and board president, has died. He was 66.
The school district was quick to express sadness at the loss of Mr. Tuomy. Board President Camille Townsend commented, “John Tuomy loved this school district and he wanted the best for its students. His boisterous advocacy came with a thoughtful analysis and a willingness to put his shoulder into the work ahead. He focused on the future. We will miss him as a friend and as a leader.”
Tuomy is survived by his wife Carolyn, his children and grandchildren. He died Friday of injuries he suffered by falling off a ladder last Wednesday, according to Palo Alto Online.
