Former Stanford Fellow Now Surgeon and Entrepreneur Jagdish Chaturvedi is Changing the Medtech Ecosystem
Jagdish Chaturvedi is an ear, nose and throat surgeon that's innovating the medtech device industry.

India nowadays imports 70% of the medical devices that it needs to perform operations and treatments.
With such high import rates, the cost of healthcare rapidly increases predominantly in the out of pocket paying market, 80% of which resides in rural regions.
Although doctors have noticed the shortcomings in the process, many still lack the resources and know-how to develop the devices that are needed.
Meet Jagdish Chaturvedi. As a clinician and serial entrepreneur, he has been focusing on improving the medtech ecosystem in India by creating medical devices that are specifically designed, engineered and priced for the Indian healthcare system. In 2012, he studied the process of Biodesign at Stanford University, as a part of a fellowship funded by the Indian Government.
Over the past 7 years, he has filed 15 National Patents, 7 published PCT filings and granted 5 technology licenses as well as 6 commercializations.
His inventions range from a low cost portable ENT endoscopy device (licensed out to Medtronic) to a nasal foreign body removal device (licensed out to InnAccel in 2013) to a unique automated secretion management system that reduces the risk of developing Ventilator Associated Pneumonia in patients on prolonged intubation.
Now, Jagdish balances his time between his medical obligations and doing stand-up comedy. His Youtube comedy channel, which features several comedy skits, has amazed over 2 million views.
