HERS Breast Cancer Foundation Hosts 16th Annual Walk/Run Event to Support Breast Cancer Survivors

Race, Walk/Run Fundraiser, Community Expo and Survivor Celebration to be held in Fremont's Quarry Lakes Regional Park on September 26, 2015.

HERS Breast Cancer Foundation today announced that registration is open for their annual 5k Walk, 5k/10k Run, and Community Expo at the Quarry Lakes Regional Park in Fremont, California. This event, now in its 16th year, is the organization’s biggest fundraiser of the year. In addition to supporting services for breast cancer survivors, this event celebrates the lives of people that have survived breast cancer and remembers those we’ve lost. On September 26, family, friends and neighbors will gather with breast cancer patients and survivors from all over the Bay Area to celebrate life and raise funds for breast cancer support services. The event begins at 7:00 a.m.

The event website at HERSbreastcancerfoundation.org/walk-run/ provides information for walkers, runners, donors, sponsors and expo participants. This web site allows participants to register online and set up their personalized online fundraising page. HBCF is again partnering with the Crowdrise participant fundraising system to facilitate and promote fundraising by participants; see the event web site for details.

HERS Breast Cancer Foundation is pleased to announce that once again, the East Bay Community Foundation will be matching online donations up to $15,000. HBCF’s generous participants and their supporters met and exceeded this goal last year. This year’s event sponsors include Fremont Bank Foundation, Micrel, Beverly Hagan CPA, Genentech, Washington Hospital Healthcare System, Stanford Health Care, Heritage Bank, Stanford Health Care Valley Care, and many more generous organizations. A complete list is available on the event web site.

The event kicks off at 7:00 a.m. (PT) on Saturday, September 26th. Following on the remarkable success of last year’s event, the HERS Breast Cancer Foundation expects a record turnout of participants and community supporters. This uplifting event begins with a moving opening ceremony that celebrates survivorship and those who have passed on. After this inspirational moment, participants take to the course to walk, run or race for this great cause. Following the race, participants will enjoy the Community Expo, live music, and BBQ lunch.

HERS Breast Cancer Foundation supports all women healing from breast cancer by providing post-surgical products and services regardless of financial status. HBCF is the only nonprofit organization in the Bay Area that provides appropriate products (such as bras, prostheses, lymphedema garments, and wigs) for breast cancer survivors in a safe, comfortable, and understanding environment.
