Filoli, a historic site of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, hosts “Branches, Buds and Blossoms—Romance of the Winter Garden” for people of all ages to enjoy the Garden’s spectacular early spring floral display and two days of talks, demonstrations, activities for children and families, and guided walks of Filoli’s Camellia collection of more than 250 exquisite varieties.
February 13 and 14 include guided Camellia Walks, flower arranging demonstrations, hands-on activities for children of all ages and food demonstrations on Decadent Chocolates. Filoli’s Café and Garden Shop will also have new seasonal items.
On February 13 only there are also two demonstrations on Camellia Pruning and Care at11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and at 1:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. There will be a Hands-on Embroidery Workshop from 11:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m. For the Hands-on Embroidery Workshop, there is a charge of $10 for materials.
On February 14 only, there are two Greenhouse Visits and demonstrations on Re-potting Camellias at 11:30 a.m. -12:30 p.m. and at 1:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. Also from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. there is a Demonstration on “The Beauty and Artistry of Stained Glass”. From 2:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m., there is a Talk on “How to Create Masterpieces on your iPad”. All of this information is on www.filoli.org.
On display in the Visitor & Education Center is the art exhibit, “Audubon Collections: Birds and Plants, Select Prints and Books from the Filoli Collection” from February 10 through March 22, 2015.
Reservations are not necessary; however, space is limited for some of the programs.
Go towww.filoli.org for exact times of each walk, activity or talk. This event takes place during regular hours and is free to members, except where noted. Non-members pay regular admission prices.
Admission Fees: Free admission for current members of Filoli. For non-members, admission is adults $20, seniors (65 years and older) $17, students (ages 5 through 17 or with valid student ID) $10; K-12 Local Educators with I.D. $10, no admission charge for children 4 years and younger. Group rates of $17 per person are available for groups of 12 or more adults. Contact Visitor Services at (650) 364-8300, ext. 507 regarding group rates. Parking is free.
General Admission includes: Self-guided or docent-led guided tours of the House and Garden, access to the Café, Garden Shop, art exhibit and on Saturdays, 10:00 a.m. docent-led nature hikes with advance reservations.
