PALL National 11s overpowers Half Moon Bay
Facing elimination in the 11 yr. old Allstars Tournament, Palo Alto defeats Half Moon Bay 16-2
July 5. Marina Field, Belmont. Busting out in the top of the first inning for 6 runs, the Palo Alto Nationals 11s Allstars were determined this was not their elimination night. Sean Hogan set the tone, driving the first pitch he saw into left field. The Nationals ended up sending 10 batters to the plate before ending the inning, pounding out 5 hits highlighted by back-to-back doubles from Rogan Gibbons and Jackson Martin (5 RBI), capped off with Rowan Felsch's 2-run HR blast. Palo Alto was not done; Kylie Lui ignited the 3rd inning by driving a HMB fastball over the centerfielder's grasp, hitting the fence for a double. Colin Lee and JT Barnett followed with their own booming doubles. Hogan set the crowd afire with his first Little League home run trot. With 11 batters, Palo Alto had amassed a 13 run lead. Zack Silver added a single to the 13 hit offensive surge.
The National's starting pitcher Elias Duncan dominated HMB for 3 1/3 innings with no hits and 6 strikeouts. Alex Rojas completed the Palo Alto pitching performance by closing it out with 2 strikeouts of his own.
The ride continues this Friday when the Nationals face the winner of Hillsborough vs Pacifica Am. at Marina Field at 7:30pm.
