Palo Alto Beats Hillsborough 9-5

PALL Nationals eliminate HLLB in the 11s Allstars Tournament

July 8, Marina Field, Belmont. Once again the Palo Alto Nationals 11s' pitchers had threw another masterpiece performance limiting powerful Hillsborough to 6 hits over 6 innings staving off elimination. Elias Duncan duplicated last Tuesday's scoreless performance with 3K's over 3 1/3 innings. Rowan Felsch provided middle relief with 2K's and Zack Silver closed the game with 7 pitches with his devastating change up that had the last HLLB batter frozen to end the game.

The Palo Alto offense got HLLB on its heels in the very first inning starting with a leadoff single by Sean Hogan and later as Felsch hit a 2 out Grand Slam home run giving PA a 4-0 lead. A lead that they never gave up as they added 4 more runs, this time with singles by Alex Rojas (2 for 3), Rogan Gibbons, Zack Silver, and Colin Lee (2 for 3) in the third, adding one more in the bottom of the fifth.

After suffering years of losses against Hillsborough, "this feels good," commented former PALL president Mark Burton.
