Palo Alto Coronavirus Cases Surge: Report

The city's case count has more than doubled since June 23.

PALO ALTO, CA – Palo Alto has seen a surge in cases of the new coronavirus since late June, Palo Alto Weekly reports.

According to the report, the city’s case count has more than doubled since June 23, when it has has reported eight more new COVID-19 cases each week, the report said.

The city’s case count has gone from 86 on June 23 to 174 as of Aug. 5.

The spike in coronavirus cases followed a loosening of shelter-in-place orders on June 5, the report said.

Santa Clara County has been under shelter orders since March 17.
