The tree planting's in conjunction with the annual Canopy Tree Awards ceremony.

PALO ALTO, CA -- The next time the city holds its annual tree planting ceremony, a special tree is to be planted in honor of a retiring public official who's leaving after more than three decades of service.
The 21st Annual Canopy Tree Planting and Awards Ceremony welcoming Palo Alto's next incoming mayor will also include a special tree planting tribute for outgoing Police Chief Dennis Burns, who's retiring after nearly 35 years of dedicated service with the City of Palo Alto.
The ceremony's scheduled for 5:15 pm to 7 pm Thursday, Jan. 26 at Mitchell Park Community Center, 3700 Middlefield Rd, Palo Alto. The two trees are to be planted near the Magical Bridge Playground.
