PALO ALTO, CA — Demonstrators young and old gathered in Lytton Plaza in Palo Alto Tuesday evening to demand the impeachment of President Donald Trump, Palo Alto Weekly reported. It was one of more than 650 rallies across the nation organized by the progressive group MoveOn.org.

Hundreds were expected to turn out to the rally, which was also organized by the Raging Grannies, and held in a spot where other protests have historically taken place. Demonstrators sang songs, held signs and inflated a giant Donald Trump chicken, according to Palo Alto Weekly.

"This protest is one for the books," said Ruth Robertson of the Raging Grannies.

The gathering was one of about 20 "Nobody Is Above The Law" rallies held in the Bay Area on the eve of what may be a historic impeachment vote Wednesday by the U.S. House of Representatives.

Two articles of impeachment approved by the House Judiciary Committee charge that President Trump abused the power of his office and obstructed Congress in a quest to rig the 2020 election.

Meanwhile, President Trump on Tuesday denounced what he called a "partisan impeachment crusade" being waged against him by Democrats, comparing the effort to remove him from office to the Salem witch trials and questioning the patriotism of Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

Trump made the remarks in a six-page letter to Pelosi that he made public. Read Trump's letter to Pelosi at The New York Times.
