Palo Alto, Santa Clara Valley Under Heat Advisory This Weekend: NWS
South Bay residents are advised to not only take health precautions for themselves, but also for their pets and livestock.

SANTA CLARA VALLEY, CA -- With high temperatures expected to be at or above the 100-degree mark for the next several days in the South Bay, a National Weather Service heat advisory is forecast to remain in effect from 11 a.m. Saturday through 11 p.m. Monday.
This weekend's advisory area stretches across the South Bay -- including communities throughout the Santa Clara Valley and the San Jose area.
Residents -- particularly the young, elderly and other sensitive groups -- are advised to not only take health precautions for themselves, but also for their pets and livestock.

"The rapid increase in temperatures may not provide adequate time for acclimation to the heat, further increasing risk of heat-related illnesses in the impacted areas," NWS stated. "... Pets, crops and livestock may demand extra care through the warm and dry weather."
With this type of heat also comes an increased risk of wildfires, forecasters advised.

Sunday is currently forecast to be the warmest day of this heat streak, with some local areas at or above triple digit temperatures or up to 20 degrees above normal, according to NWS.
