Pedestrian, 21, Dies After Being Hit By Big-Rig in Palo Alto
The accident victim was from Milpitas.

A pedestrian died after being struck by a big-rig on U.S. Highway 101 in Palo Alto early Sunday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
At roughly 3:45 a.m., a 2014 Freightliner traveling south hit a 21-year-old Milpitas man walking in the fourth lane just south of Embarcadero Road. The man came to rest on the right shoulder of the roadway and was in and out of consciousness at the scene, according to CHP. He later died of his injuries at Stanford Hospital around 5:15 a.m., CHP officers said.
The driver of the vehicle, a 34-year-old Salinas man, was sober but CHP officers said drugs or alcohol may have been a factor for the pedestrian. The incident remains under investigation and two lanes of southbound Highway 101 were closed for roughly an hour while investigators were on the scene.
