The Pop Ups to perform in Palo Alto Nov. 9
OSHMAN FAMILY JCC PRESENTS FAMILY FUN WITH NATION'S TOP KIDS' BAND THE POP UPS, 4PM, Schultz Cultural Arts Hall

The Oshman Family JCC will be bursting with music and children’s laughter in November when it presents one of the nation’s top kids’ bands, THE POP UPS with “Appetite for Construction,” an interactive musical adventure that takes young audiences through DIY craft projects they can make at home. Propelled by high-energy dance numbers, Technicolor puppets, dancing bugs, giant glittery shapes, quirky costumes, and award-winning indie-pop beats, listeners of all ages will be catapulted out of their seats. The performance will take place 4pm, Sunday, November 9, 2014 at the Oshman Family JCC- Schultz Cultural Arts Hall, 3921 Fabian Way, Palo Alto.
The Grammy-nominated pair, called “The dreamboats of the kindie music set” by The Wall Street Journal, is composed of Jason Rabinowitz, who is a performer and composer who has appeared on Broadway (“One Man Two Guvnors” and Encores! City Center) and Jacob Stein, an art and music educator who has taught at Columbia University.
With their infectious and imaginative energy, THE POP UPS perform using cardboard props, hand-painted sets, and a colorful cast of original puppets, crafting a world of magic that engages, educates and delights. THE POP UPS debuted in Los Angeles in 2010 with “PASTA! A Pop-Ups Puppet Musical,” a comic musical adventure through the duo’s native Brooklyn. The popular debut show went on to tour around the country in venues ranging from the Kennedy Center in Washington DC, to New York’s Beacon Theatre. Music from “PASTA!” won NAPPA and Parent’s Choice awards, and was selected one of the top ten children’s records of the year by The Washington Post, Time Out New York Kids, Zooglobble, and many others. They continue to gain popularity and acclaim as one of the most beloved kid’s bands today.
