Popular Palo Alto Restaurant Shutters, Reimagines Future

Vina Enoteca announced plans to keep its business going through as it formulates a vision for "Vina 2.0."

PALO ALTO, CA – A popular Palo Alto restaurant has shuttered dinner service as it reimagines its future amid the coronavirus crisis.

Vina Enoteca made the announcement last week in a post on Instagram.

“When we opened Vina, we wanted to create a space that would bring together the community and its families in our special home. We built a restaurant to hold events, rehearsal dinners, weddings, a place to celebrate and have a party!!,” the restaurant’s Instagram post said.

“But things have obviously changed and that space is obsolete looking forward. We need to rethink how that vision can still exist but in a new and safer way. This decision does not come easy but it’s a necessary one to preserve our business.”

The restaurant announced plans to keep its business going through as it formulates a vision for “Vina 2.0.” It plans to continue a wine club and cooking classes that figure to be part of that vision, but it’s not clear when, if ever, the restaurant will reopen its current location at the Stanford Barn Shopping Center.

"In the meantime you can still support and help make Vina 2.0 a reality," the restaurant's post said.

"We have seriously enjoyed creating with you and for you and want to continue bringing you our gifts! Our wine club, online ordering, team building classes and private dining will all continue and we are putting all our efforts into that side of our business so we can bring some fun and joy into your homes! Tootsie’s will continue to operate and we look forward to seeing you there."
