Rabid Bat Found At Santa Clara County Park
The bat tested positive for the rabies virus.

PALO ALTO, CA -- A rabid bat was found Friday at a Palo Alto park.The sick bat was found in the Hoover Park dog run at 2901 Cowper St., according to Palo Alto Animal Services.
The bat tested positive for the rabies virus.
Officials said there is no indication the sick bat had any contact with humans or canines.

Bats can sometimes fall from trees in hot weather, and officials are reminding the public it is important never to touch a bat or let kids or animals near a downed bat.
Anyone that comes across a bat that appears sick should immediately call Palo Alto Animal Services at (650) 329-2431.
