Rich Gordon Joins San Mateo-based Caminar

Veteran legislator Rich Gordon has joined Bay Area nonprofit organization Caminar as Government Relations Officer

Caminar is delighted to announce that Richard Gordon has joined the organization in a newly formed executive position. As Government Relations Officer, Rich, who recently completed 24 years in elected office, including three terms representing the 21st and 24th Assembly Districts (San Francisco Peninsula/Silicon Valley), will lead initiatives to support our organization’s growth in the Bay Area.

“Rich is a longstanding and effective advocate for a strong safety net of health and human services for local families,” said Chip Huggins, CEO of Caminar. “We are thrilled that Rich has accepted our invitation to join Caminar and continue his career of a making a difference for vulnerable members of our community.”

“I believe that there is great merit in meeting the needs of our communities through public-private partnerships,” said Mr. Gordon. “As Government Relations Officer, I look forward to assisting Caminar in
being an even stronger partner in addressing critical health concerns for families.”

Mr. Gordon began his career in youth services, developing innovative programs to build protective factors against homelessness, delinquency, and other sources of psychological trauma for teens in high-risk
environments. Mr. Gordon brought this depth of knowledge of issues affecting youth and families to the San Mateo County Board of Education, San Mateo County Board of Supervisors, and State Legislature. Due to
term limits, Mr. Gordon’s 24 years of continuous service in elected office ended in November.

Over the years, Mr. Gordon has served on the Boards of Directors of several organizations, including the Redwood City Chamber of Commerce, Child Advocacy Council, and Rebuilding Together Peninsula. Mr. Gordon also served on the Advisory Council of Family & Children Services of Silicon Valley (FCS), which completed its merger with Caminar at the beginning of January.
