San Jose Man Convicted Of Tax Evasion
A San Jose man was convicted of tax evasion in in federal court on Tuesday.

SAN JOSE - A San Jose man was convicted of tax evasion in in federal court.
Walter Rhodes, 64, of San Jose, pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Beth Freeman in San Jose Tuesday to one count of tax evasion.
U.S. Attorney Brian Stretch said that in a plea agreement, Rhodes admitted attempting to evade paying more than $300,000 in taxes for the tax years 2002 through 2007.

After the IRS levied his bank account in 2009, Rhodes opened another account using the name and social security number of a different person, Stretch said.
Rhodes faces a possible maximum sentence of five years in prison and will be sentenced by Freeman on Oct. 11.
