Santa Clara County Unemployment Rate Remains Below 3 Percent
Gilroy had the highest unemployment rate in the county last month, according to figures released by California EDD.

SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA — The unemployment rate last month in Santa Clara County remained at 2.6 percent — 27,300 people were without work — which was on par with the November 2017 rate and substantially lower than in December 2016 when the rate was 3.3 percent.
Palo Alto had an unemployment rate of 1.8 percent in December. Mountain Views's rate was 2 percent; in Los Altos it was 1.7 percent; Cupertino, 2.1 percent; San Jose, 2.9 percent; Campbell, 1.9 percent; Los Gatos, 1.8 percent; Saratoga, 1.8 percent; Morgan Hill, 2.9 percent; and in Gilroy, 3.4 percent.
Across the San Francisco Bay Area, unemployment rates were below five percent in all nine counties last month, the EDD reported. San Mateo County had the lowest rate at 2.1 percent, followed by Marin County at 2.3 percent and San Francisco at 2.4 percent.

Solano County had the highest rate at 4.1 percent.
In Santa Clara and Sonoma counties, unemployment was below three percent. Alameda and Contra Costa counties reported unemployment of 3 and 3.1, respectively.

Statewide, unemployment was 4.3 percent, compared with 4.1 percent nationwide.
