'Substance' Closes City Hall, Police HQ in Nearby Menlo Park
The suspicious substance was received in the mail, police said.

MENLO PARK, CA – Menlo Park's City Hall and Police Department were closed temporarily this morning after a resident brought a suspicious substance there after receiving it through the mail, police said.
Menlo Park police requested the assistance of the Menlo Park Fire Protection District and both agencies followed their normal protocol to deal with possibly hazardous materials, according to police.
City Hall reopened at about 8:40 a.m. after investigators determined the substance was inert, police said.
