Suspicious Items At Stanford Deemed Safe

Students and staff were evacuated from at least one academic building Monday morning.

STANFORD, CA — UPDATED: An investigation into suspicious items Monday morning at a building on the Stanford University campus was wrapping up after authorities deemed the items safe, according to a 9:57 a.m. update from university police.

"There is no danger at the scene," Stanford University Department of Public Safety officials said in the update.

At about 8:18 a.m. Monday, university police sent an alert stating that an investigation was underway into suspicious items at Cordura Hall. Students and faculty were advised to avoid the area and the building was evacuated.

Authorities also closed Panama Street between Campus Drive and Via Ortega.

But upon determining that the items were part of a Stanford Online High School project, Cordura Hall and Panama Street were reopened.
