Teaching Art and Science through Inquiry
A progressive elementary school has moved into the neighborhood
The Children’s School of Art and Science began its year in a new location, right next to the Palo Alto Junior Museum and Children’s Library. With small, mixed age classes and a curriculum that integrates the disciplines, the school is eager to form partnerships with local organizations as it explores the area.
With a relatively low tuition ($15,000) for private schools and opportunities for financial assistance, The Children’s School hopes to attract a growing number of families who are looking for a more holistic and natural approach to learning. ”Children don’t need everything sequenced and systematized in order to learn,” says administrator and co-founder Theodore Timpson. “We find ways to teach through an engaged process of questioning and exploring.”
The school’s first open house of the year is next Saturday the 19th, at 10:00. Interested parents can register online.
