2 Sentenced For Fatal Street-Racing Crash In South Bay

A 20-year-old Harbor City man was killed last year in the crash.

PALOS VERDES, CA – Two men were sentenced Monday to four years in prison for a street-racing crash in Torrance that left a 20-year-old Harbor City man dead last year.

Zachary Frank Leets, 20, of Torrance and Luis Samaniego Barajas, 20, of Los Angeles pleaded no contest to vehicular manslaughter in November as part of a negotiated plea agreement.

Leets and Barajas were racing on Pacific Coast Highway when Barajas' vehicle crashed against a center divider, sending it airborne into oncoming traffic near 242nd Street, where it crashed head-on into a vehicle driven by Maximillian "Alexis" Rojas, who was fatally injured.
