5 Shot At San Pedro Beach: Police
Two of the victims were in critical condition, two more were seriously injured and one was in stable condition, police said.
LOS ANGELES, CA — Five people were injured, some critically, in a weekend shooting at Royal Palms Beach, according to authorities.
The incident occurred shortly before 6 p.m. Saturday when five males were struck by gunfire after a verbal altercation turned physical at the San Pedro beach, authorities said. Two male suspects fled in a vehicle and the victims were taken to receive medical attention, according to Los Angeles police Officer Rosario Cervantes.
Two victims were in critical condition, two more were seriously injured and one was in stable condition, Cervantes said.

“We're outraged and saddened by the shooting at Royal Palms Beach in San Pedro that has left 5 people injured,” Los Angeles Councilmember Tim McOsker and county Supervisor Janice Hahn said in a joint statement.
“It's tragically ironic that today we hosted a gun buy-back event just a few miles away from this location. Gun violence is wreaking havoc on our community.”

The beach was set to be closed Sunday and to close earlier on weekends for the foreseeable future while authorities work to ensure its safe use, according to the statement.
