• Armed Officers Stay At Palos Verdes Schools As Funding Deal Awaits Approval (patch.com) — Parents in Rancho Palos Verdes can expect two armed school resource officers to remain on Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified campuses as the new year starts, even though the cost-sharing agreement just expired. Rancho Palos Verdes continues to shoulder the largest city share of the program's funding while an amended agreement is reviewed, keeping security and emergency preparedness efforts in place at local high schools.
   

• Palos Verdes Peninsula cities unite to prepare for potential disasters (dailynews.com) — Rancho Palos Verdes and the other Peninsula cities have secured FEMA approval for a joint hazard mitigation plan that keeps them eligible for disaster-prevention funding and targets landslides, earthquakes, wildfires, and more. The plan responds directly to RPV's ongoing land movement, outlines goals to protect infrastructure and residents, and will be overseen by a new committee meeting monthly, including on September 10.
   

• USA Water Polo Announces Rosters for Inaugural 4x4 Open Championships (swimmingworldmagazine.com) — Two Rancho Palos Verdes natives, Marko and Stefan Vavic, have been named to the USA men's roster for the first-ever World Aquatics 4×4 Open Championships in Croatia starting August 31. The new four-on-four format will feature U.S. men's and women's squads packed with national team and top collegiate players, with all games streamed on World Aquatics' YouTube channel.
