LOMITA, CA — Dutch Bros Coffee is expanding deeper into Los Angeles County, with a new location planned along Pacific Coast Highway in Lomita.
The new coffee shop will be built at 2270 Pacific Coast Highway, at the southeast corner of PCH and Cypress Street, according to the City of Lomita. The project will feature three drive-thru lanes, one drive-thru window and a walk-up window, city officials announced Wednesday.
"Coming Soon: Lomita's very own Dutch Bros Coffee!" the city wrote on Instagram. The city said Dutch Bros has worked with officials to address traffic safety and management associated with the development.
"Dutch Bros has worked closely with the City to address traffic safety, impact and management with the new construction to ensure maximum safety in the community and satisfaction with the establishment," the city said.
KTLA first reported Wednesday's announcement, describing the Lomita shop as the popular Oregon-based chain's first location in the South Bay.
The project has actually been making its way through Lomita's planning process for several months.
According to a City of Lomita public hearing notice, the development calls for demolishing an existing 2,187-square-foot former bank building and constructing a 1,025-square-foot Dutch Bros coffee shop with a drive-thru and attached canopies.
The Lomita Planning Commission approved the project's conditional use permit and site plan review June 8.
State environmental records subsequently filed for the project show the site encompasses about 0.66 acres and the new business is expected to create 20 jobs.
The city determined the development was categorically exempt from further review under the California Environmental Quality Act, finding that construction of the 1,025-square-foot coffee shop on the already-developed property would not create a significant adverse environmental effect. The city has not announced an opening date.
The Lomita project is part of a broader push by Dutch Bros into Los Angeles County. The company opened its first location in the city of Los Angeles near USC in Exposition Park in late 2025. Dutch Bros also operates locations in La Mirada and La Habra, while its location directory lists 255 locations across Los Angeles County and California.
Another South Bay-area location is also on the way. Dutch Bros currently lists a shop at 20377 Avalon Blvd. in Carson as "Coming Soon." The Carson location is expected to have both a drive-thru and pickup window.
Dutch Bros was founded by brothers Dane and Travis Boersma in Grants Pass, Oregon, in 1992. The company has since grown into a nationwide chain known for coffee, flavored energy drinks, teas, lemonades and blended drinks.
No opening date for the Lomita location had been announced as of Thursday.
