PALOS VERDES ESTATES, CA — Police recovered an unserialized AR-15-style rifle, two handguns and multiple high-capacity rifle magazines while arresting two suspects in separate incidents on consecutive days this week, authorities said.
The Palos Verdes Estates Police Department announced the arrests Wednesday, saying the weapons were recovered during two unrelated incidents.
Photos released by the department show the AR-15-style rifle alongside several magazines, as well as two handguns. One image shows the rifle resting on the hood of a police vehicle.
Police have not disclosed what led officers to encounter the two suspects, where the arrests occurred or what charges they may face. The suspects' identities also were not released, according to KTLA.
PVEPD described the recoveries as the result of "attentive police work and proactive enforcement efforts" by its officers, saying its work extends beyond responding to crimes after they occur.
"Every day, our officers work to prevent crime, address potential threats, and protect the community we serve," the department said. "These recent incidents highlight their continued dedication to public safety and their commitment to keeping Palos Verdes Estates a safe place to live, work, and visit."
