Charter Bus Crashes in Rancho Palos Verdes

RANCHO PALOS VERDES, CA — A charter bus crashed Monday at the Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes after a "medical problem" was experienced by the driver, who was taken to a hospital for examination, authorities said.

The accident was reported about 6 a.m. at Palos Verde Drive South and Terranea Way, according to the sheriff's Lomita Station. The bus sheared a hydrant, but remained upright. No passengers were injured.

The bus was making a left turn out of the driveway onto Palos Verdes Drive South when it veered further to the left and went down an embankment, then back onto Terranea Resort property, according to the sheriff's department.

"Calls were received from the occupants of the bus stating that the driver appeared to be experiencing some sort of medical problem," a sheriff's statement said.
