Coyote Tracking App Developed By City Of Rancho Palos Verdes

The website and phone application will benefit all Peninsula cities.

RANCHO PALOS VERDES, CA – The City of Rancho Palos Verdes' Information Technology staff have been developing a web-based coyote tracking application over the past several months, and it's now available for public use on mobile and desktop devices. The application will benefit all of the Peninsula's cities – it was a collaborative effort with Rolling Hills Estates and Palos Verdes Estates, whose residents and staff will utilize this program as well, according to a City of Rancho Palos Verdes press release.

The application will provide information on the coyote populations and sighting trends, as residents will be asked to report a coyote sighting and describe it's behavior or incident. The reported information will be documented and forwarded to City Staff, according to the press release. The website will also have a map of the Peninsula to identify the location of the reported coyote and its activity.

For more information about coyote control efforts by the City, contact the Code Enforcement Division of the Community Development Department at (310) 544-5281 or visit their website. This matter will also be discussed by the City Council at its upcoming meeting on Tuesday, September 19th.
