Dog, Man Rescued After Being Stuck On Steep San Pedro Cliff

After more than an hour of being stranded, both the man and his dog were returned home safely and uninjured, LAFD said.

SAN PEDRO, CA — A dog and its owner were rescued from a steep San Pedro cliff Sunday night and safely returned home after more than an hour of being stranded, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

LAFD got the call about the predicament at about 7 p.m. from a man who said he was stranded on a precarious seaside cliff behind his home after trying to rescue his pet dog himself. The ocean was more than 30 feet below and responders were unsure what the status of the dog was at first.

Land, air and sea rescuers were on scene less than 30 minutes later and decided they would try to rescue the pair via rope and harness.
