Gunman Robs 81-Year-Old Woman in South Bay

Police are asking for help finding a man who robbed an elderly woman at gunpoint in Manhattan Beach.

Authorities today sought public help to find a man who robbed an 81-year-old woman at gunpoint in Manhattan Beach.

The crime occurred about 2:35 p.m. Saturday in the 2500 block of Ocean Drive, said Stephanie Martin of the Manhattan Beach Police Department.

“The victim ... was out for a walk when she was approached by a male brandishing a handgun,” Martin said. “The suspect demanded her purse and watch, which she handed over.”

The suspect ran away. The woman was not injured.

The man was described as black, 20-30 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet 3 inches tall, and weighing 120-150 pounds. He wore a blue hooded sweatshirt.
