House Sitter Arrested For Allegedly Burglarizing South Bay Homes

After reviewing video recordings from inside of their home, the victim confirmed one of the three suspects was his house sitter.

PALOS VERDES ESTATES, CA – On Saturday, Palos Verdes Estates Police Department (PVEPD) responded to the 3600 block of Palos Verdes Dr. North in response to a residential burglary report, according to a PVEPD press release. It was learned that the burglary happened while the victim was out of town, and after the reviewing the video recordings from the interior of the house, two suspects were seen entering the home and stealing property on August 3. The victim recognized one of the suspects as their dog sitter, Nephi Henderson.

During the early morning hours of August 4, three suspects, including Henderson, were seen stealing more property from the house, according to the tapes. A PVEPD detective responded to the seen and collected DNA evidence which are still pending analysis, the press release said.

Henderson was located by the victim through Care.com that helps care seekers and care givers connect – Henderson was using the name "Nephi H" on the website.

On Wednesday morning, August 9, PVEPD detectives served a residential search warrant at Henderson's apartment. Henderson wasn't home at the time but several items of the stolen property were located at his residence. Detectives also found other stolen property, later linked to a residential burglary in another city.

Eventually, detectives located Henderson as he returned to his residence and put him under arrest for two counts of residential burglary. Detectives are still working to identify the other suspects.
