Household Hazardous And Electronic Waste Collection Event Set For Rancho Palos Verdes

The County of Los Angeles is holding a drive-through household hazardous waste/electronic waste roundup in Rancho Palos Verdes on April 18.

Do you have goods and devices in your household that are too toxic to just toss in the trash? If so, there will soon be a way to get rid of them out of your life once and for all.

The County of Los Angeles is holding a drive-through household hazardous waste/electronic waste roundup event from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 18 in the City Yard at Rancho Palos Verdes City Hall, 30940 Hawthorne Blvd.

The event is open to all L.A. County residents.

Anyone with old paint (water or oil-based), used motor oil and filters or automotive fluids, anti-freeze, pool chemicals, pesticides, herbicides, expired medicine, used sharps (place in a secure and sealed container), batteries (car or household) and fluorescent light bulbs can bring them in their trunk or truck bed.

Event staff will only remove household hazardous and electronic waste from vehicle trunks or truck beds. To dispose of sharp objects, participants will be required to exit their vehicles and dispose of them in a designated area.

Event staff will also accept unwanted electronics such as TVs, printers, computer monitors and CPUs, VCR and DVD players, printers, fax machines, cell phones, microwaves, etc.

The Rancho Caninos Dog Park will be closed from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. due to the event.
