Long Beach Man Arrested in Rolling Hills Estate Armed Robbery

The suspect was also linked to robberies in nearby Torrance.

A Long Beach man was arrested in Torrance, after a short pursuit, in suspicion of robbing a Rolling Hills Estate pharmacy at gunpoint Monday, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department reported.

The robbery happened at around 12:50 p.m. at the Rite-Aid pharmacy in The Peninsula Center. The suspect, identified as Fletcher Ogletree, 51, allegedly threatened a female cashier with a gun, according to a sheriff’s report. Though no gun was reportedly seen by the cashier, she was fearful for her life and gave the Ogletree money, deputies said.

Deputies responding to the crime spotted the Ogletree driving in a silver Jaguar. When they attempted to stop him, Ogletree fled and a pursuit started, according to the sheriff’s department.

Deputies chased the suspect into Torrance where he attempted to make a right turn at the intersection of Torrance Boulevard and Portola Avenue but lost control and collided into a tree, deputies ssaid. He was taken into custody without incident.

Numerous witnesses identified Ogletree as the suspect in the Rite-Aid robbery, according to the sheriff’s department.

Torrance police also responded to the scene because Ogletree matched the description of a suspect in a string of robberies in the city, according to the sheriff’s department

No one was hurt in the crash.

The Torrance Police Department will handle the investigation into the crash. Ogletree will be arraigned in Torrance on Tuesday on several counts of burglary and felony evading charges, the sheriff’s department said.
