PALOS VERDES, CA — Tides stranded a woman along the coast of the Palos Verdes Peninsula late Monday night, leading authorities at the Lomita Sheriff's Station to conduct a search and rescue for the lost hiker.

As the tide rolled in, the woman told sheriff's station officials that there was no way for her to make her way out safely. What's worse, authorities said the woman had no idea where she was and her phone died while help was on the way.

Officials made their way to the area and began to search two miles of coastline to locate the woman. When deputies found her, they realized there was no way for them to reach her, according to the Lomita Sheriff's Station.

"Teams attempted to reach the stranded hiker on foot, but were thwarted by the same tides that stranded our hiker. Teams began preparing to scale the cliff side but that proved to be very dangerous," sheriff's station officials said on Facebook.

Eventually, a Los Angeles County Fire Department helicopter made its way to rescue the woman, landing on the surf line on the rocks in order to get to the stranded woman.
