Original Pancake House
Technically, it's part of a chain, but you won't find another like it in Los Angeles County.

As we (hopefully) leave dark skies and dismal weather behind, it's time to start thinking about where to enjoy a great breakfast before a day of shopping, biking, or lolling around the beach.
The Original Pancake House is just the spot. Specialties include the Apple Pancake, which is topped by a small hill of apples, cinnamon and glaze, or the Dutch Baby, an air-puffed confection served with lemon butter.
If you're watching carbs, don't. Close your eyes. These are too good to pass up and resistance is futile.

The Original Pancake House serves pancakes and waffles topped with fruit or basic eggs and meat combos, including homemade corned beef hash, all with pancakes on the side. The coffee is fresh and endless, service fast and friendly. The only downside here is that they do, alas, close the doors to new customers at 2 p.m.
1756 South Pacific Coast Highway, Redondo Beach. 310-543-9875. Open 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily. Prices range from $7 to $12.
