Palos Verdes Disaster Mitigation Plan: Deadline For Comments Is Near
Rancho Palos Verdes residents who'd like to help make the community more resilient have a chance to do so by commenting on a disaster plan.

RANCHO PALOS VERDES, CA – Rancho Palos Verdes residents who'd like to help make their community more resilient have a chance to comment on a new city disaster preparation plan. But the deadline to do so is right around the corner.
The Palos Verdes Peninsula cities have been developing a local Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan that will be reviewed and submitted for approval by state and federal emergency management agencies. The plan's an emergency planning document that identifies hazards, assesses risk from those hazards, and identifies possible strategies to reduce impacts.
Hazard mitigation is any long-term, sustainable action that reduces risk to people, property and services from future disasters. Creating a comprehensive plan in advance helps communities identify risks and select mitigation measures.
