Palos Verdes Estates Live Election Results: City Council

Seven candidates were looking to snag one of three available City Council seats in Palos Verdes Estates.

PALOS VERDES, CA – Palos Verdes Estates residents voted to fill three City Council seats Tuesday. The polls closed at 8 p.m. – three of three precincts are reporting as of 11 p.m.

Here are the unofficial results for the Palos Verdes Estates City Council:

  • Michael Kemps: 21.23 percent of the vote with 1,617 total votes
  • David McGowan: 20.44 percent of the vote with 1,557 total votes
  • Victoria A. Lozzi: 19.74 percent of the vote with 1,504 total votes
  • Jennifer L. King: 15.94 percent of the vote with 1,214 total votes
  • Betty Lin Peterson: 11.67 percent of the vote with 889 total votes
  • Kevin F. McCarthy: 8.48 percent of the vote with 646 total votes
  • Jeff Groves: 2.51 percent of the vote with 191 total voes

The three City Council seats that are expiring are Mayor Betty Lin Peterson, Councilmember Jennifer L. King and Councilmember James D. Vandever.

Seven candidates were vying for their spot on the council. They are: incumbents Betty Lin Peterson and Jennifer L. King, along iwth David McGowan, Victoria A. Lozzi, Kevin F. McCarthy, Jeff Groves and Michael Kemps.

Vote-by-mail ballots will still be counted if they're received by the county by March 8.

Palos Verdes Estates has an estimated 9,940 registered voters as of September 25, 2018, according to the City website.
