Lockdown Lifted, Classes Canceled At Palos Verdes High School
All afternoon classes at Palos Verdes High School have been canceled after an anonymous phone threat targeted the school.

PALOS VERDES, CA — The lockdown at Palos Verdes High School has been lifted, according to police. Due to the disruption, however, all afternoon classes have been canceled, and gates are open at the campus for student pickup.
The Palos Verdes Estates Police Department was on scene Thursday morning at Palos Verdes High School investigating an anonymous phone threat targeting the school.
As a precaution, the school was on lockdown until police investigated and determined the campus is safe, PVEPD said. Students and staff were sheltering in place.

The threat comes just one day after a racist "promposal" by a student at the high school led to outrage from the South Bay community and online. According to the Palos Verdes Estates Police Department, "one such post appeared to be a threat towards PVHS." That prompted a stepped-up presence of officers at the campus Wednesday. Police said officers tracked down the person who made the possibly threatening post, and "it was determined that the person making the post was not intending any violence, rather it was meant as an — inappropriate — joke."
There was no further information released on the nature of the telephoned threat or whether it was connected to the "promposal" photo.
