Palos Verdes Inspector Charged With Installing Hidden Cameras

The Rancho Palos Verdes employee allegedly hid miniature cameras at a City Hall bathroom and a nearby coffee house.

PALOS VERDES, CA – A former building inspector for the city of Rancho Palos Verdes has been charged with secretly recording dozens of men and women with a hidden miniature camera at a City Hall bathroom and a nearby coffee house, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office announced Wednesday.

Andrew James Jensen, 49, of Huntington Beach, faces 89 misdemeanor counts of "unauthorized invasion of privacy: peeking," the press release said. The Lomita Sheriff's Station said Andrew James Jensen, 49, of Huntington Beach, was arrested after an employee found the hidden camera on July 5.

An investigation determined Jensen allegedly put the camera in the restroom at City Hall, and at a nearby local business, the press release said. Arraignment is scheduled Wednesday in the Torrance Branch of the Los Angeles County Superior Court. The case was filed for warrant yesterday.

Jensen is accused of using a hidden camera to secretly record 63 women and 26 men from June 13 to July 5, prosecutors said. Bail is set at $450,000. If convicted as charged, the defendant faces a possible maximum sentence of more than 44 years in jail, the District Attorney's Office said.

The case remains under investigation by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
