Peninsula Comes up Short After Sluggish Effort vs. Bishop Montgomery

The Peninsula Boys JV Team came into the 4th and final game of the Trevor Ariza Tip-Off Tournament looking to right the ship that came to a halt on Friday night against the bigger Westchester Comets. The Peninsula Team discovered before game time that their center, Kyler Tabazadeh would not be able to play due to an elbow in the mouth against Westchester. The Panthers came out sluggish and struggled to find any flow to the game. They ended the first quarter with a 10-9 deficit missing many shots and not playing team ball. The second quarter was a slight improvement with the Panthers outscoring the Knights 13-11 to take a one point lead 22-21 going into half-time. The Panthers came out in the third quarter and stopped playing team ball and their shots would not fall. The Panthers were outscored 23-2 in the 3rd quarter to find themselves in a hole of 44-24 heading into the final quarter of the game. The 4th quarter began with the continued selfish style of play and the lead stayed at 20 points. The Panthers then made a valiant effort and cut the lead to 11 but after digging such a big hole they simply had run out of time and could not close the gap any more. The Panthers lost 51-40 and now stand at 2-2. The Panthers do not paly again until 12-16-13 when they will meet Inglewood and hopefully they can get back to their winning ways.
