Public Safety Power Shutoff Under Consideration For Palos Verdes

Southern California Edison is considering shutting off power for parts of the Palos Verdes Peninsula on Friday.

PALOS VERDES, CA — Southern California Edison is considering a Public Safety Power Shutoff for parts of the Palos Verdes Peninsula on Friday, Sept. 9 according to the City of Rancho Palos Verdes.

Due to increased fire risk conditions amidst the ongoing heatwave in Southern California, some circuits serving the peninsula may lose power from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. This considered shutoff may affect 11,169 other customers in Los Angeles County according to SCE's website.

According to the city, SCE will notify those who may be affected, including Critical Care and Medical Baseline customers.
