Land movement has increased in the Rancho Palos Verdes landslide area after historic storms over the recent holidays, LAist is reporting.

RANCHO PALOS VERDES, CA — Land movement has increased in the Rancho Palos Verdes landslide area after historic storms over the recent holidays, news radio station LAist is reporting.

"City officials said in some parts of the ancient landslide in the Portuguese Bend area of the city, land movement increased to two inches per week, that’s up from the average of 1.74 inches per week," the outlet said in a March 13 report.

Above-average rainfall in 2022 and 2023 set off a rapid increase in movement — up to a foot per week in some places.
