PALOS VERDES, CA – A 44-year-old San Pedro man is scheduled to appear in court next month; he was charged for allegedly threatening to kill Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Los Angeles.
Anthony Scott Lloyd allegedly made the threat during a phone call to Waters' Capitol Hill office last month. According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, Lloyd called the office Oct. 22 and left a voicemail "laced with expletives and epithets" and used the words "dead" and "kill" a total of four times.
Lloyd was arrested Nov. 9 but later released on $20,000 bail. He is scheduled to be arraigned Dec. 7 on a single count of threatening a United States official. Prosecutors initially charged him Nov. 8, but he was indicted Friday by a federal grand jury.
