Students should follow the step-by-step instructions in the classroom to complete their course requests for next school year.

The following information will provide instructions and resources for selecting classes, and reviewing those selections with your counselor for the 2021-2022 school year:

This year students will have access to all the scheduling instructions and materials on their counselor's grade level google classrooms. Students should follow the step-by-step instructions in the classroom to complete their course requests for next school year. If your student has not yet joined their counselor’s google classroom, they can do so using the google class join codes indicated below.

All students will need to complete their scheduling worksheet and submit it on their counselor google classroom. The deadline to submit the scheduling worksheet is Thursday February 18th, 2021.
Students will also need to log into their aeries student portal account to enter their course requests for the 2021-2022 school year. The scheduling window for the aeries student portal will open on Monday February 8, 2021 and close on Friday, February 19, 2021. Students will only be able to enter course requests during this window. For instructions on how to access course requests in aeries see the aeries instructions document attached below.
When logging onto the student portal, you will notice that some courses have already been added. These are recommendations from your current Math, English, and/or World Language teachers. These recommendations cannot be removed by the student. You can, however, add to this, and upon your individual meeting with your counselor, classes will be updated accordingly. If you do not meet the prerequisite for a course you would like to take, you will need to fill out a request for placement form which can be found in your counselor's google classroom or attached below.
Students must complete and submit the scheduling worksheet in google classroom by February 18th, 2021. Students will then meet individually with their counselor to review and finalize their course requests.
Individual scheduling meetings with counselors will take place on the following dates:
Junior scheduling meetings: February 22nd - 26th during English classes (no appointments needed)
Sophomore scheduling meetings: March 8th - 26th during individual sophomore counseling appointments. To book an appointment please go to your counselor's sophomore counseling google classroom or use the calendly links posted on the PVHS website.
Freshmen scheduling meetings: March 1st - 5th during English classes (no appointments needed)
If you indicated on your scheduling worksheet that you are planning to take Summer School, please review this link. Access to PVPSS registration, dual enrollment information and the out of district approval form is included here as well. This is information is posted in each counselor's google classroom as well. As a reminder all out of district courses require both administrative and counselor approval. You need to submit these forms by May 28, 2021. You cannot sign up for out of district coursework before receiving approval.

WAIVING INTO COURSES
Teacher recommendations are the best predictor of success. If students register for a course for which they were not recommended or for which they do not meet the prerequisites, they must complete a REQUEST FOR PLACEMENT FORM form. (see link above).
Please be advised, although we encourage our students to try Honors and AP classes, the availability of level changes is never guaranteed. Therefore, it is essential that students select courses wisely and not assume that they will be able to drop down from an Honors or AP class. Per Board policy, level changes are based on space availability.
Once counselors have met with and verified all student course requests, parents will receive a letter with their child’s final course selections for 2021-2022. Prior to May 28, 2021 any student wishing to make a change to the courses selected must fill out a Request to Change Course form.
This must be signed by a parent and returned to the student's counselor by email. During the summer, requests to change a course due to a graduation requirement or summer school issue must be submitted via email to Gayle Carpenter, Associate Principal at carpenterg@pvpusd.net All other course request changes must wait until schedule change days in August.
