South Bay by Jackie Weekend Guide September 27, 2018
The South Bay by Jackie Weekend Guide offers comprehensive coverage of the greater South Bay area.

In producing and co-hosting The South Bay Show podcast for the last seven years, I’ve had the good fortune to become acquainted with what is commonly referred to as the 20%ers (although, some say it’s probably closer to 10%ers). These individuals are passionate about their communities and committed to service. When something needs doing, they step up - repeatedly - and by and large, without recompense. You’ll find them in service organizations; sitting on boards and commissions; volunteering for non-profits; serving in small business associations; fundraising for education foundations; organizing local events; working with veterans, teens, the elderly; and helping neighbors in any number of ways. I know this because, regardless of the focus or topic, that 20% are recurring guests on the podcast. I’m in no way diminishing how much corporate sponsors and their dollars do for our South Bay communities…. I can’t imagine where we’d be without them. I just wanted to give a shout out to those individuals, whose time and effort make the South Bay a pretty terrific place to call home.
